Seems like several "civil rights" laws and directives already covers that.

What is missing in DEI platitudes is any reference to qualifications for the position.

I don't care about the color, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity or other characteristics as long as the person hired is competent. If the pilot of the airplane is a purple cross-dressing Budhist I don't care as long as they are trained and have the ability to pilot the plane from one destination to another.

Same applies to first responders and especially lawmakers in government.
