Angry Ex-Employer

Well, as long as you know that you haven't done any wrongdoings or violated any contracts with your previous employer...then there's no need to be afraid of. Cheers and enjoy!

I was working with a carrier for seven years when they terminated one of my agents for (allegedly) having someone sign an insureds name. The agent sued the carrier and named me and my upline in the suit. The insurance carrier proceeded to deduct, from my residual commissions, about $3,000 a month for one third of the legal fees of that were incurred as a result of the company firing this agent. Mind you, I didn't fire the agent. The suit was thrown out and I am out over $20,000 in legal fees that I should not have to be charged with. I got an attorney and it got me no where. The company hasn't reimbursed me one cent. Also, the VP of the company sent me three letters (on letterhead) stating that if I didn't recruit "X" amount of people and sell "X" amount of business that he would take away my downline. I am an independent contractor and have no quotas in my contract. All during this time my 5 yr old was going through cancer treatments. The VP followed through on his threats and I am screwed. After twenty years in this business I am starting over. I am out over $100,000 as a result of his actions.

Employers, and ex-employers can do anything they want and you are pretty much at their mercy. Even if you have unlimited funds to fight, the lawyers are the only ones who win.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Have you talked to other attorneys? Geez, I can't imagine not winning that battle!

Sometimes things happen that just make you speechless. JC I wish you and yours the best.
