Anthem Leaves Ohio Obamacare Plans

This means three giants - Anthem, Aetna, and Humana have all pulled out of Obamacare in 2018, with other insurers cutting back their offerings and covered areas (Medical Mutual). In fact 20 counties in Ohio now have no Obamacare/subsidy offering!

Also mentioned was that insurers are requesting premium increases of 50% - 80%!!

Just opened a renewal for a client yesterday, only 15% - I guess they should be lucky?

Carriers have to price in the risk and uncertainty, or avoid it by pulling out. There's truly no other option.

CSR payments are stalled and not promised. Subsidies are in question. Risk adjustment payments are in question. The entire law, all of it's regulations, are in question.

Anthem went so far as to explicitly blame the uncertainty for their decision.
