I know that the subject line is corny, but what I'm wondering is how often, if ever your clients are really appreciative when you sell them insurance ? I see a lot of posts here talking about the primary reason why people got into insurance, being to help people.

How often do you get clients that recognized that you helped ?

Not until something major happens, like when they call you and let you know that, thanks to the insurance, the surgery they just had was $6,000 rather than $42,000.

Or when, out of the blue they e-mail you a referral, just as a "thank you" for being so kind to them.

Or, when they invite you to a Holloween Party, and introduce you as their insurance guy.

If this business worked on cash tips, I would starve.

I find smaller towns network more so rate of referrals is higher. I imagine I should increase my contact ratio with clients, and all of the above would change, you think?

Ever delivered a checkbook from an insurance company that had $1,000,000 in it to a newly widowed mother of 3 kids under the age of 12? I have. SHE hugged me.

Ever helped a small business owner who just had Cal OSHA out to his company YARD where an employee took the safety guard of the machine and cut 3 of his fingers off at the 2nd knuckle? Their company had $65k in OSHA fines and if this knucklhead employee prevailed in the civil suit and the OSHA violations held up. He would have likely lost his 2nd generation business that employs his family and 32 other people. When our team of specialists and resource providers finished. He paid $20k [approx] - got it all sorted and kept his business. HE "wanted" to hug me ... No Go there ....

Ive got tons o stories ...where we've genuinely SAVED people

Here's the deal. If you want your clients to appreciate you ... You need to let them KNOW YOU APPRECIATE THEM.

A10 Envelopes stuffed with Golden Rod colored PAPER isnt the answer!!! Real Appreciation ... Pure Appreciation with no cross sell pitch or referral requests. Yes you need to market to them .... but other times you have to fill the emotional resevior with something other than a PITCH with emblazend with your damn LOGO.

Birthdays / Anniversarys / Kids Graduations / New Car / New Home / New Location / New Baby / Just Frikken because ... they send you their hard earned money ...

Pure Unadulterated APPRECIATION. Try it feels great ... and your clients will LOVE IT. Mine do.

I get emails and voicemails all the time.

"Joe was LOL at your birthday card ... thank you"

"Thanks for sending Billy a little B-Day note ..."

"We just got the brownies you sent and the office devoured them - those were great - where'd you get them?"

"Thanks Steve those cookies were great. That was very generous of you"

Of course it does help to automate it all  ... Set it up once and then put it on autopilot.

I use the Ultimate Insurance Marketing System to accomplish 95% of it - affordably and EASILY. Push Button Appreciation, and best of all it works.

I imagine I should increase my contact ratio with clients, and all of the above would change, you think?

Well if you send a bunch of logo'd out sales pitches - you might as well just be sending them a Billing Statement. About the same value to them.

All the best,

Steve

My personal favorite moment in insurance so far: when the sweetest little Japanese couple ever, at the end of my presentation, almost cried when they said "Everyone else has been trying to make us buy, buy, buy. You just showed us what we could have if we want it. You are the only insurance agent we trust."

awwwwww

I'm in the South: Iced tea, cookies and milk, ice cream, real good food, small gifts ("here, take this with you, your wife might like it"), great fellowship. All this during or after a sale, and I'm still new! I can't wait for the stuff SoCal talks about! (not the stuff he sells, I already do hi-touch via common sense and simplicity.)

This afternoon I was given a bag of something resembling candy?-coated Turkish coffee beans - from Turkey! Will "ease" into them tomorrow. May be up for days! :swoon:

I have had people break down and cry and need a hug from me just to keep it together after I have delivered a death benefit. I had two clients of mine get killed in a boat accident while fishing on vacation. I went to the one guy's house and his wife was doing about all she could just to stand up and breathe. Its heart breaking sometimes. I just try to be as helpful as I can be.
