I also was contracted with Puritan... same deal as others described. Drive many miles and hrs all over the place to supposedly check on trust issues from trusts some law firm sold years before. They were mostly lower income people who did not have a lot of assets - they certainly didn't need a trust in most cases I saw. You are supposed to find out what assets the have and put into annuities. I don't think I would go so far as to call it sleazy but it's certainly not uplifting work. It's a fairly high pressure deal with them wanting you to attend weekly meetings and submit reports. Like many of these deals, they try to treat independent contractors as employees but don't want to pay your Social Security, health insurance, retirement, etc... benefits you would have access to as an employee.
