Are Any of You Refusing to Become Exchange Certified?

Perhaps ALL OF US will be selling "Off Exchange", Somarco. Here's the latest notice from the CMS Medicare Learning Network. (aka the agent training site) It's been up there for almost 2 weeks now. Somethin's goin down in DC.

"You recently established an account on our website, to complete the agent/broker training for the Federally-facilitated Marketplaces (FFM).

As you know, completing the training and agreement(s) is the first part of the two-part registration process for agents and brokers in the FFMs.

At this time, we are reminding all agents/brokers that the second part of the FFM registration process
is not yet available

You may continue to monitor the status of the second step for registration by following our website: Resources for Agents and Brokers in the Health Insurance Marketplace - Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

In the meantime, please do not attempt to complete the second part of the registration process at this time, as that functionality is not yet ready for agents/brokers.

We appreciate your interest in the FFMs and we will keep you apprised of all pertinent status updates, via our website listed above.

Thank you, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services"

-The End

Just had to check, I got in just fine, signed in saw my courses and certificates.

whoops see where you said cms portal, but I just checked it also and the front page is there.

Until someone can find in the 22000? page law or updates...how much they are paying the agent...I am not going near it. Already went through the Medicare Advantage commission drop. Not going through it again until I see a decision on that part. Maybe next year....

I'm doing the training as it becomes available, but have already told my people that I may not (most likely won't) bother to sell into the exchanges. I'll sell private plans outside of it, provided I have the bandwidth to assist people, but my big issue is that it directly conflicts with Medicare Annual Enrollment and that's my more lucrative market. If I get stretched to thin & have to pick - that's the market I'll cater to. I'm currently trying to find a referral payment option if I have to hand off individual clients I can't service.

For me, it took a few hours on a weekend that I wasn't doing much anyway. Too dang hot here for the grass to grow, so I don't have to mow the lawn much. There was no charge to certify and I have more time than money. My warm market for IFP is the hospitality industry folks that most likely aren't offered a group plan. I'd like to be able to say that I can take care of them whether they are inside or outside. But, I don't plan on a big marketing campaign and spending a lot of money on it.

Some of you folks with a bigger book may think differently. Another arrow in the quiver for me.

I am officially refusing to become exchange certified. I have my log in credentials, but that is all...

I am very new to this Forum as an official member, but have linguered/monitored for a long time. It was the daily views/opinions/stratagies that have assisted my decision. Having the license to sell health insurance does not mean I have too! I am out.

For a brief moment (like three weeks of thinking), I thought I could open a new premium flow into my agency from the ACA. Maybe there are other p&c guys like me thinking the same.....my customers are already calling, and the phone will really start ringing more often real soon...opportunity?

At first I thought, what an opportunity. Back to the "all your protection under one roof"....Holly crap. What was I thinking!

The golden days: 40% new/15% renew,

Anyways, this P&C guy needs to have a referal outlet for AZ.

I have have been talking with friends in the PC business and financial guys the last few weeks and they aren't participating but getting lots of calls. My call and lead volume has doubled this month.

So ironic that p and c guys and financial guys get these obamacare calls and they have no clue. What a joke but typical.
