Are med sups doomed ?

Yawn... The entire international community is supporting and funding Ukraine, you think they're doing that because of some stupid fox news conspiracy?

Fox News? Bro, I have watched zero cable news in the last decade other than on election nights. Are you saying Hunter Biden wasn't on the board of an energy company in Ukraine? That's just one example of the corruption. What are Hunter's qualifications for that job?

This is a perfect example of people not having critical thinking skills. Someone states some facts and we get the "Fox News" and "conspiracy theory" insults. For just one moment, let's assume that all the news on Hunter was actually not Hunter, but Don Trump, Jr. How do you think liberals would handle it? That includes the press since they are mostly liberal.

Don't bother answering. I'm done with the conversation.

Under 65 is the biggest part of my business but all my Medicare business ages in from my under 65 business, They all ask about Medicare Advantage but once I show them this video from the gov starting at the 28 sec mark [EXTERNAL LINK] - Medicare Advantage Denials of Care they want nothing to do with Medicare Advantage. In fairness, I do show negatives about both Med sups and Med Advantage 90% of the time I put them on Med supps. I'm not saying their isn't a place for them but it's rare.

Let's not kid ourselves if it wasn't for the higher agent commissions these plans would be dead. How many of your clients want the insurance companies involved in their healthcare decisions?

About 70% of mine the last 11
years or so. It's what insurance companies do. Who wants the Gov't involved in their healthcare decisions?

I sell a non t-65 this time of yr I make $100 . How's that more than a med sup ?

New agent here, getting into Advantage & Supps. What are some of the healthcare decisions government is involved in under Medicare Advantage plans?

All of them.

Medicare is a federal law. Just like Social Security. Regardless of whether you're selling Advantage plans or supplements, you're still dealing with Medicare and to some extent Social Security as well. Any changes made to either one will have a trickle down effect on what you can or can't do.

Advantage plans are regulated at the federal level while supplements at the state level. But the actual Medicare law trumps both.

Simply stated, the federal government gives and can take away. Your ability to make it in this highly regulated arena depends on how flexible you can be and roll with the changes.

DC has implemented drastic changes in the way health care operates and is administered over the years as well as who can participate at what level.

Obamacare almost decimated the individual health insurance market leaving only a handful of players. The result of Obamacare was a bloated, overly expensive health insurance market that priced the middle income people out of the market.

Likewise, changes have occurred in the Medicare market that have resulted in more cost shifting away from the carriers and onto the backs and pockets of seniors who often rely on Medicare as their only resource for dealing with high medical costs. Today's MAPD market is a makeover of the failed Medicare Part C legislation from the 1990's. Already that market is like a ship taking on water and, rather than saving money for the government, it has done just the opposite.

The MAPD market has created a "gold rush" of carriers and agents flocking to that market in hopes of making a fortune that relies on the continued funding from the federal government and creative ways of shifting dollars away from the seniors who need affordable health care.

So the federal government exudes a great deal of control over what you can and cannot do to earn a living in this market.
