Are med sups doomed ?

Fox "News" is banned in a few countries because they won't take news out of their name.

I actually feel sorry for the people that tune into that channel. Even the hosts don't believe the garbage they spew.

Didn't people like Hanity and others on Fox admit what they were reporting on Jan 6th was not true ? They knew the truth . Here's the bottom line . If either Trump or Biden get in its a disaster for this country . Time for somebody young . I think Pence is level headed .

Me. Every year for the last 5+.

What's your point? You think I'm not smart enough to manage my book and income, based on people hitting year 8?

Your not a new agent . You've been the business what 10 plus yrs . No new agents writing 200 plus sups a yr

It's seems more and more "healthy " T-65's opt for mapd because they "rarely " use services. We can argue what's better a sup or mapd . But what we can't argue is what will happen to future pricing with sups .If mostly sickier t-65's buy med sups and mostly sickier people keep med sups as they get older . What happens to pricing ?.Med sups need a big influx of healthy people to keep rates increases even at 8-10%. Every company will be playing shell games and closing blocks . Those people will be stuck with 15-25% rate increases . If necessary mapd plans can reduce or eliminate extra benefits to keep medical benefits stable .

I still get T65s quite literally asking me for "Plan F like my mom has. Her insurance pays for everything."

I don't think their doomed, even if they aren't quite the default choice they they used to be.

Medicare is cheap, especially MAPD plans.........ummmmm

[EXTERNAL LINK] - Medicare News from NAHU - 08/14/2023

I've explained to my clients that the plans are paid by Medicare, usually $1,000/month or more -- in some cases, considerably more if the plan qualifies for a bonus under the quality bonus program established by the Affordable Care Act.

The Kaiser Family Foundation reported that the majority of Medicare Advantage enrollees (75%) in 2022 were in plans that were receiving bonus payments.

Wondering what plans in your area are paid? CMS publishes ratebooks and supporting data. Here's a peek of plan rates in Autauga County, Georgia:

  • For a beneficiary who is enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B, assuming the plan qualifies for a five-percent bonus, the plan would receive $1,177.70 a month plus the beneficiary's Part B premium of $164.90 for a total of $1,342.60 or $16,111.20 a year.
  • For a beneficiary enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B, assuming the plan qualifies for a 3.5% bonus, the plan would receive $1,147.63 a month plus the beneficiary's Part B premium of $164.90 for a total of $1,342.60 or $15,750.36 a year.
  • For a beneficiary enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B and assuming the plan does not receive any bonus, the plan would receive $1,077.47 a month plus the beneficiary's Part B premium of $164.90 for a total of $1,242.37 or $14,908.44 a year.
  • For a beneficiary enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B and assuming the beneficiary has End Stage Renal Disease, the plan receives $8,229.63 a month plus the beneficiary's Part B premium of $164.90 for a total of $8,394.53 or $100,734.36 a year.
