I hope I am wrong too, but it won't be the first time DC has screwed up something that worked reasonably well and ended up making things worse.
The "commoners" use the government insurance plan in Canada and the UK while those with money buy private insurance and bypass the "system"
This is so unbelievably false its funny.
I am originally from the UK, I actually just got back from there as my grandma has stage four stomach cancer... To say only "commoners" use the NHS is not understanding how the NHS works.
BTW my GMA is being treated by the NHS. We aren't "commoners" and she is being treated by the one of the finest gastric oncologists in Europe without any need of bypassing anything...
Private Insurance in the UK doesnt even cover everything, here's just an example of some things private insurance is not allowed to cover in the UK.
- organ transplants
- pre-existing medical conditions
- normal pregnancy and childbirth costs
- cosmetic surgery to improve your appearance
- injuries relating to dangerous sports or arising from war or war-like hostilities
- chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDs-related illnesses, diabetes, epilepsy, hypertension (high blood pressure) and related illnesses.
