Are You Using a Blog to Market Yourself?

I can't tell you the last time I read someone blog. Most people hate to read. Most blogs are boring. It would have to be something that I found to be funny or something I really needed to read on a blog.

The blog isn't necessarily there to get people to read every word of it. It's there to get people to your website in the first place.

I'm just getting started the past couple months, so someone else here who has been doing it for a while can better answer that. The topics you write about on the blog should be related to things people are searching for. If they come across your blog about life insurance while searching for something like "what's the difference between whole life and universal life?", maybe they will request a quote. I also submit all of my blog posts to Digg as a news article.

I utilize blogs and article marketing to establish my expertise in the market and it seems to work.

However, it requires a lot of writing prowess.

Very informative blogs Troy. But why do you throw in that feng shui crap? It knocks your blog down a notch.

Just my two cents. Well...actually, it is probably worth more than that. Of course, they say value is based on what someone is willing to pay. So what is someone going to do? Put two pennies in an envelope and send it to me with a 44 cent stamp? OK...then do I get credit for the 44 cents...thus making my comments worth 46 cents? Gee...why not just put it in my PayPal account? Can you do that with two cents? I don't know. But I will find out.

Lol.

That Feng Shui link is brought about by a link exchange program I joined long ago. Ooops...

Just curious how many agents are using blogs to market their practices? And if you are do you write the content yourself, purchase elsewhere, etc. Do you use your own Wordpress install or a hosted setup like Blogger, etc?

Appreciate any feedback you all have.

I blog on Joomla with multiple authors. I'm not an agent though... I'm a secret agent man.
