I have some questions about this policy from a prospective client, I am in Missouri, this would be an HSA account.

Would the client have to pre-register 7 days before they go in the hospital?

Would they have to have a primary care physician to see another doctor?

Regarding the prescription drugs, are the only drugs authorized generics?

Answers are for Georgia; double-check for your state:

1. From what I recall when I screened claims for a penny an hour, Assurant does require precertification for inpatient stays, outpatient procedures done in a hospital, nuclear medicine, and major outpatient diagnostics. Our medical assistants did the precert work for us, so the client never had to worry with that nonsense.

2. It's a PPO, no referrals to specialists are required.

3. Assurant covers the price of generics only. If you buy a generic, full coverage. If you buy a brand name when there's a generic equivalent available, they will cover only the price of the generic. If there's no generic available, then they'll cover brand name.
