Assurant will be pulling out of New Mexico. The last day to submit an application is August 16th with an effective date of August 28th.

This is Assurant's comment on rate increases:

IM news in your state
Good news on Individual Medical rates
We've announced the good news that we have added many valuable plan benefits for customers .... Now for even better news! Your customers will receive these enhanced benefits, on average, at NO additional cost on CoreMed — and at only an 8% increase on OneDeductible. Rate changes will vary widely by market, plan and applicant demographics. In general, plans with higher deductibles will experience higher increases, and female applicants will experience higher increases than male applicants.

And for mental health benefits:

Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse: No annual limit for OneDeductible and Assurant Clarity. Benefits are subject to plan provisions. State guidelines also apply. Note: Since CoreMed does not have a Behavioral Health benefit, this change does not apply to CoreMed.

They ought to talk to Iowa. Humana pulled out on them. Maybe they can start a support group for states that had a health carrier pull out on them?

The only question is, is it effective, will the health insurers regret pulling out nine months from now?

With all these companies pulling out of markets lets not hope they leave any "evidence" they were ever there.
