I just wanted to share my grief, as I'm been ditched from one of the big players because I didn't write over 50 Obamacare policies--by the way it's 7 months and they haven't payed me either!
This gives me the impression that the ACA policies are considered a dime a dozen and really aren't worth a heck if their not sold in bulk.
Looks like I have to put a kiosk in Walmart or Costco or maybe in Sedanos.
As for something serious, do you guys know if you have to be appointed with a given company in order to sell their policies through the Marketplace and receive compensation?

:skeptical:

The answer is yes. Who is the carrier that required that high of a threshold. Just name the state, and the first letter of the company?

In response to your inquiry : Fl-B

That is typical of them.

The winners in this are both Florida Blue and the contracted general agency, who now will keep all of your commissions in perpetuity unless you start fighting with them now.

Blue doesn't care that you aren't paid, they will eventually pay the CGA and then you have to try to get them to pay you.

Don't ever contract with them again, they will just do it to you all over again and again and again (if you let them).

There will be other alternatives for ACA policies in the next OEP in Florida, both UHC and Assurant are entering (at least for now) and the others will probably expand the counties where they offer On Exchange.

I have never read anything that said there was a quota however two agents that are friends of mine received termination papers as well and didn't get all the pay. They were under a&b financial.

I'm having a hard time believing that a legitimate top-rated health insurer would damage their reputation by withholding/keeping/stealing a relatively small amount of money.

If their reputation was poor prior to 2014, agents wouldn't have written any Florida Blue this year..right?

So it was the agency that did this, not the company direct?

I've sold IFP in Florida for 10 yrs and built a solid book without ever selling a fl blue policy. There is always another better carrier. I would add Cigna and Aetna as options.
