As we continue to make the necessary changes to our individual and family health plans to comply with health care reform mandates, we will begin transitioning members to a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of GA-branded ACA-compliant off exchange plan on January 1, 2014.
We will transition non-grandfathered membership monthly, beginning January 1, 2014 upon the members’ renewal date with monthly renewing grandfathered membership remaining on their current products. We will notify all members on plans being transitioned to an ACA-compliant plan in 2014 by July 1, 2013. A copy of this letter is attached here. This will provide a minimum of 180 days notice and explain that their plan is being discontinued. We plan to communicate that while their current plan is closing they need not worry as they will receive another letter soon that highlights their Blue Cross and Blue Shield of GA ACA-compliant plan options available. A phone number will be provided in case members have questions.
Grandfathered and non-grandfathered Assignment System and Conversion products will no longer be required by state law and will be discontinued as of January 1, 2014. Members enrolled in these products will have access to on and off exchange ACA-compliant plans on January 1, 2014. Members enrolled in Assignment System and Conversion products will be notified at least 90 days prior to January 1, 2014. We will provide you with more information, including the member letter, in September.
You have our assurance that we will continue to partner with you in this new environment to make your clients’ transitions as easy as possible. As one of our valued brokers you are the foundation and strength of our business. Thank you for all you do to improve the lives of the people we serve and the health of your communities. Together we can help guide your members through the health care changes coming in the future.
