Becoming an Independent Insurance Agent

I've been a health insurance agent for about 3 months now. Lately, I've been struggling with the sales.
My company is not giving enough leads and the few I get, they simply are not interested.

Furthermore, I bought leads through netquote, hoping to find new business, but I couldn't really close those from netquote. In fact, I close more sales with my company's leads than netquote, and these are shared among the agents in my office. Sometimes, I think it's was the crappy zip codes where I was getting these netquote leads. Not to mention how expensive they are.

Anyway, I've been trying to other alternatives to attract clients...I created a personal website; I did some advertisement in facebook and I did weblisting in the search engines. Of course, since I'm just starting out, I didn't really spend much, about $100 spent on advertisement. However, it didn't really work. No one called from my website or the facebook ads.

So I find myself a little desperate now, so I had some street signs made. I was thinking I put some in the light poles, stop signs, or in the ground. I was wondering if anybody has tried that? I haven't done yet because I'm not really sure if I should put them in the first place. Also, I'm don't know if I could get fined for that. However, I see people putting these street signs here in Miami, Florida. That's why I thought about putting up some in order to get some business.

Also, what other ways do you recommend me to attract more business to me? I'm growing tired and becoming a little frustrated.

Thanks for the input
Good that you're thinkin! Leads are lame~....that's my motto! I get the most leads walking into retail/hairsalons etc cuz they don't offer group coverage to contractors. Just a business card and a "Hi my name is xxx. I'm a local agent in the area and I just wanted to leave my number to let you know I'm here. In case you don't have coverage or if you're paying too much for it, I'm appointed with the major carriers, so I'd be happy to do the research for you. What's your date of birth?

Ask for the sale, ask 5 times....ask for their dob/ht wt/ any meds...ask for a business card, get their email then ASK why they're looking~ Make sure you pin them down to wanting your assistance! Ask for a time to follow up, or tell them you'll follow up in a few days~ Really it's just waking and knocking that does the trick!
Most will blow it off...again and again...and every week after until they buy~so...stay with them...monthly follow ups are necessary!People make insurance decisions slowly...so don't be in a hurry. Always act like you have no need for money...and that your time is valuable...you can't waist it with mumbo jumbo...lol... he he he :1wink:and remember...THIS IS NOT LAW...it's just my opinion~
Good luck fellow agent~

WTF, can it be done sleeping and knocking?:1tongue:

Hello! Thanks for all the excellent information posted on this forum board. I also have recently acquired my Life/Health insurance license. My question relates to the selection of an IMO. What are the exceptional qualities to look for when making a selection and is it possible to work with more than one IMO at a time?

THANKS

Jane which ones are you appointed with here in Florida?

I'll tell if you tell....Who are you appointed with?
Here's a hint (everyone mostly) ... not Assurant

;)

Geez arn, you were just gushing and fawning over her beauty (at least in a picture that is)...

I'm not sure correcting her spelling and grammar is gonna get you too far!
:D:D
Darlin...you must have this forum mistaken for some hook up spot. No one is going to get TOO FAR in any regard with me. I hold my own reigns sunshine...it's so cute of you to try and egg eachother on, like back in high school..he he I can play with the big dogs.
Why do you even care to discuss my looks? What's wrong with you? Do you have buck teeth or something? ...lol ...let's grow up okay? okay. :twitchy: FYI *I'm not available....:nah: I'm one day into this Forum and it's not so bad as long as I don't give my opinion...lol

Raygun,

I would stay away from companies that are run like AMWAY. Stay away from companies that are going to push you to recruit new agents. Stay away from companies that ask for your list of 100 of your friends and family. IMO's will not let you work through other IMOs at the same time, and will frequently freeze you out of your carriers for 6 months after you leave.
