Best Medicare Supplement Carriers

Sell them plan F. You will have less calls at the beginning of the year, reminding forgetful seniors what a Part B deductible is when they are billed by the doctor.

Numbers don't lie; plan Fs stay on the books longer than plan Ds. Unless you sell United American plan Fs of course. That's why it's important to get a competitively priced company, then sell plan F like crazy.

In 9 years I have sold maybe 10 Fs. I get maybe 5-7 calls per year asking for clarification of the part B deductible. Plan Fs do not stay on the books longer than a D. Clients stay longer with agents who stay in touch with them.

I guess a lot of it depends on the state you do business in. Where I do business, my average client would pay almost exactly $135/yr more for "F" than "D" so the "F" just makes more sense(female 69 nonsmoker f= $109 and d=$98). I remember running into pockets of Texas where "D" plans were the way to go.

Turned in an "F" plan (fax) to family life insurance company yesterday and the policy was assigned to an underwritter and shown as "pending" on their website first thing this morning. HUGE improvement over what I'm seeing with United of Omaha. They are "re-insured" by mutual of omaha as well. Really good female rates here.

Every time a senior calls me I look upon it as being very positive. I tell them to call me literally any time, even Sat. and Sun. or in the evening if they have a question. Every call they make solidifies in their mind that I am always available to help them and that, unlike most agents, I strive to provide excellent service.

This is just another thing that insures great persistency and means that senior is going to have insurance with me for a very long time.

Maybe your Plan F's stay on the books longer but it is only because I haven't talked to them yet.:D

Where can I get reputable senior lists?

There are many reputable mailing list companies to choose from. I have tried infoUSA, USdata, and a couple of more. They all seem to be about the same regarding the number of BAD phone numbers per 1000. infoUSA was the worst of the ones I've tried and their customer service, in my opinion, sucks.

I will give you a little advice to keep you from making the same mistakes I have made. Most of these place will try to charge your $.06 per name but don't do it. They will all negotiate with you and I wouldn't pay over $.03 to $.04 per name, and always get phone numbers, not just addresses. You should be able to find list for under $50.00 per thousand, and there are people on this forum who will help you out. If you are appointed with Mutual of Omaha, they can get a deal for you through USAdata.com

I thought Fs were better than Ds and Cs, double Fs were better than Double Ds.. oops, sorry, wrong website.

For me in FL, MOO's prices between C and F and within $1-$2 / month. Between D and F, about $15/month.

I completely agree with Frank here. I do not make the decision for them. I explain all of their options and make sure they understand and let them decide what makes most sense for them. People do not like being sold, they like buying. So provide them with their choices on what they can buy from you...:)

Something else to consider when selling Med Supp's:

The plans that cover the "B" deductible;(C,F,J) Seem to have
the largest % of rate increase.

Most companies or at least more than a few practice what I call
"Buying Business" In the Med Supp market! They throw the low
premium hook out, and in 2-3 yr's their rates are not so competitive any longer.

I doesn't matter who you are; Nothing will discredit the trust you thought your client had with you, like one to many rate increases will ! Yes I know, this is where "service" comes into play. Hopefully they are insurable so you can offer a different product. "Keeping them on the Books"
