Big ass tree branch fell from my yard to neighbor yard...

I called her karen because instead of trying to settle this between us last night when it happened she went full insurance claim on me.I could remove the limbs myself from her back yard but I would also be willing to pay for someone to do it and repair her shed shingles. Most of the limb is in my yard.Cost total for both yards to remove debri and fix some shingles on her shed is probably less than 2000.00.She is making a claim for about 1000 to her benefit.I guess I should start warning my other neighbors about there big branches hovering over my property line.

No fence damage?

My fence .

Nice for the neighbor relations thing. downer for total repair cost.

Fence is the big problem for me with the two possible trees coming my way and one I have going the other way. Be an even bigger problem if one of them should happen to drop fence to a mutual neighbor's yard that is containing some rather unfriendly dogs.

Not storm or wind related.Damage is mostly debris removal but looks like some damage to her shed.probably around 2000.00 to clean up and repair shingles on her shed.My tree limb were overhanging her yard and she had made a comment previously that branch looked rotten but nothing in writing. There appears to be some rot in branch but tree is not dead. She is insisting I gave her my insurance info so her state farm can subrocate.Do I need to do this?If possible I would like to not have this go through my insurance.is it too late to settle directly with her once she files a claim? Haven't spoke with my agent yet.I am on speaking terms with my neighbor but she is quite the Karen.

Update on the Big Ass Tree:
some of the PC guys might learn from this. This is Florida so unless there was a certified letter sent to me addressing the tree as a hazard her insurance is not going subrocate.tree surgeons said yesterday that tree was not rotten but it was over grown and probably failed from mechanical stress.the only part of the tree that fell in her yard was was already over hanging her yard and she could have trimmed that.

I never said I wasn't going to help her pay for damages I said she was Karen because of the way she talked with me about this and for many other issues in the past.I do not appreciate pontification about ethics from other agents here.only posted here to get some expert advise but obviously I came to the wrong forum for that.

Oh and it turns my neighbors shed that was barely damaged-not even one broken shingle, was not permitted and built one foot from my property line. Also she had mentioned about making a claim on the fence that belongs to me.

Fences can be a bit vague-I have upcoming discussion there too that I am not looking forward to.

Have you talked with her about that in the past so that she knows it is your fence? if so that was stretch for her to talk about filing a claim.

With the shed, since it has been there for x years, will she get to keep it up, or does she have to tear it down and build a new one within city code locations?

she had the shed built about 3 years ago- on the weekend to avert inspectors I assume .I knew it was too close to my fence/property line but I am a very easy going person and never said anything about it- and still won't.I searched the property records and see she is not paying taxes on the improvement like i do on my shed and no permits were pulled. She has lived in neighborhood much longer than me and knows it is my fence because the previous owner of my house,my sister, is the one who had it built.

My understanding is that an unpermitted out building won't even be covered by her home owners insurance.I would pose that as a question here but I am afraid of of the moronic responses I might get.

Hope you dont think my original, correct assessment was moronic. As far as the shed....permits, shmermits. Her shed, her property, her carrier. If she has coverage for outbuildings (not attached to her house) she is covered without needing to declare the improvement on her policy. She may need to declare it after the claim to increase her coverage. I'd offer to cover half of the cost and be done with her.
