Hello,

I have a question. My girlfriend thought that she have a car insurance at State Farm. She payed for 6 months something like 600 dollar. 2 weeks ago her car broke down and it had to be towed away by the road service. The costs of this are 61 dollar. So this week she went to State Farm because she would like to receive this money back from them.
At State Farm they found out that she didn't have any car insurance. But my girlfriend never received a letter of cancellation or what so ever. State Farm admitted that they made a mistake. But now my girlfriend wants her money back from the last 4 months because she payed but she was not insured. State Farm is now saying that my girlfriend has to continue her car insurance there because it is illegal to drive without insurance... Off course my girlfriend wants an insurance but not anymore at State Farm. Now they are blackmailing her by telling her that she will not find any other insurance company because she is illegal now. Is this true? And what can my girlfriend do? I hope that you can give me an advice. Thank you very much...!

Get a new girlfriend?
Much easier way to handle problem.

You can move your coverage anytime you want. Go look for a new plan. Explain the problem ...

WITHOUT sounding too jerky about it. Why? When you first met this girlfriend did you go into great detail how poorly the last girlfriend was and how you hate her?

By the way, did she have a cancelled check for the payment? If yes, she had coverage. The rest is busywork. Don't ask for the money back as if they cashed the check, she was covered.

Hello 1st thing is that if they took her payment there is coverage your 1st option to get the problem resolved is to call your states insurance commissioners off if you feel that your agent committed fraud. Second thing there are Many carriers that will insure you even with no prior insurance the statement I under correctly they are telling you that she won't be able to get insurance with another carrier that is a false statement and also something that needs to be reported to the insurance commissioners office.
In the event there would of been an accident and she had proof that she had paid for coverage and that she left the office believing there was coverage in place and there was not then the agencies Errors and Omissions policy would of had to cover it. There are to many unknown questions and answers to your statement. I would suggest you contact your state commissioner and they can find out what you can and can't do
