Blogging for SEO-your Opinion?

From an SEO standpoint is it better to have a blog as a part of your insurance site, or to host the blog separately and link back to your site in your posts? Which way gives you the most SEO bang for your buck? Any pros/cons for either way of doing it?

Thanks for your expertise!

I would think it would be better for the blog to fall under your site / url vs blognamehere.blogger.com.

The articles / posts that would fall under your unique url could/should help from an SEO standpoint versus the blogger site (insert hosted blog name here).

The fresh content and potential traffic would help your own url as well.

Sure someone can give you a more detailed deeper thought process, but I suggest going with www.yourdomain.com/blog which will give prospects/users are reason to keep coming back.

Do clients/prospect really read your blogs??

I believe they are important to have, but I wonder if clients really read them. I guess the trick would to not have boring blogs and something they really want to read.

I always thought it is best to have a blog integrated in your site.

But I don't know why.

I agree with Chumps. best to have it with your site.

In my opinion, it's works well on your site because of the constant updating of content. Search engines seem to like updated content vs. a site that sites static.

Also what may have been a 10 page website, becomes a 20 page and so on (as you write) with lots of relevant content.

Have the blog on your site and make sure you take the time to bookmark your posts on social bookmarking sites. Social media is a huge way to get information pushed out to a large audience. It may take up some time but it's worth it in the end.
