One of the most memorable cards I have seen was a friend's. He would hand his card to someone and say "Here's my card."
The card said simply on it "My Card".
The person receiving the card would look puzzled for a moment then turn it over where the usual business card stuff could be found. This always resulted in a laugh and a memorable moment.
I actually did this myself in one batch of cards years ago but kind of forgot to do it since then.
Great point on the card. I think what matters most is the experience the prospect has when receiving the card and not so much the card itself. A month or two months down the road when the prospect gets a rate increase on their current insurance, what is going to make the them think to call the guy who gave them a card a few months back- the color scheme of the card they briefly glanced at or the laugh they had when the agent gave it to them? A business card should be a mini billboard, clean and professional, but beyond that, I focus more on the experience generated when handing the cards out as well as the total number distributed.
