This was just a marketing tool agents use a very long time ago to sell more insurance. Very few people ever really did this.
So what's the advice for working class people who are already fully funding their 401K and don't have a lot left over but need life?
And just how many people are there out there doing that?
This person might be well served by slightly reducing their 401k contribution. Then buying a large term policy and a smaller whole life that is equal to the reduction in 401k contribution.
Just depending on risk tolerance, 401k options, goals, etc., it could be a very smart move.
I have a great success story of buy term and invest the difference. Bought the term 20 years ago and now that I am ready to retire I can see that my investments have done quite well. The new refrigerator I invested in is 9 years old, the new car is 8 years old.. Oh yeah, there is the new truck that is now 12 years and the boat that is 4 years old. I could go on and on but I don't want people to get the impression that I am bragging about my investment smarts.
Please share the investment strategy over the past few years? How were you able to achieve what escapes most folks?
I do not know you personally, you may be speaking the truth, but I have never met anyone in-person who did this successfully. And when they actually need the life policy, they cannot afford an increasing term from Primerica. Sad fact, just from what I have seen in the REAL world.
Seriously, work on your reading skills.
Please.

Well, I am not really that special when it comes to buying term and investing the difference. All my friends that bought term invested in the same things I invested in. Our social workers at the food stamp office tell us we have done exceptionally well...
