California...Leading the Way ? ?

I thought these two might pass as they were up against an 8/31 deadline.

These are AB 1602 (Perez) and SB 900 (Alquist) which were companion bills creating exchanges in California.

The Governor has indicated that he wants the exchange model set up (not necessarily in operation) before he leaves office, so there is no change he won't sign this.

There is another bill, SB 890 (Alquist) in California which would restrict the plan offerings for health insurance to 5 PPO and 5 HMO plans . Gold, Silver, Bronze, Platinum and Catastrophic. As of today, SB 890 is still in process.

Whatever our future in healthcare coverage sales, California will be the state to watch.

Dave...Unless I'm missing something, it appears brokers are not involved in the Ca Exchange. Is that right? And if so...any organized revolts?
The person setting up the CA exchange is the same person who set up the Mass Connector Exchange. I'll be curious to see what CAHU does. Mass connector has zero commission on IFP plans and small commission on group plans.

Time to move over to small group full-time ahead of this.
