Calling First?

Do a lot of agents go directly to knocking on doors, with lead cards in hand? Or, is it better to call first, and set appointments. It just seems like a lot of gas, for not knowing if people are home.

I agree with Rearden, and mix both in. With that being said, once you get the phone part dialed in, I would only knock doors on those you can't reach, unless your leads are tightly concentrated.

I think it's more about how MANY leads you're getting... If I was ONLY getting 10-15 leads a week, I would definitely be door knocking them first...

But since I take around 25 a week, I call em and DK the ones I can't find by phone...

Calling first is best when you have a lot of appointment setting experience or the leads to burn through in order to get that experience...

JD phone almost all leads and Newby door knocks most leads. Both are extremely successful. So I would say choose your posion.

This is all great advice. How many times do you drive to someone's house to knock? How many times do you try calling? Thanks.

I call forever. I run my appts every hour on the hour. I rarely have time to knock.

I prefer to set appointments, and knock on the 'not answer phone' folks who are in route in between.
If there are alot of 'extras' in the area, I'll set apts 2 hrs apart so I have time to door knock in between.

Typically, leads who set appointments seem to be more interested to buy, so it seems more efficient to set these apts and get them sold as first priority in the week.

If I can get a few easy sales out of the way early in the week, it makes the rest of the week that much smoother. It's always easier to door knock and revisit no shows later in the week, when I already have a few apps in the bag.

I also like to door knock right after a sale.

If im door knocking without any sales, I feel like this hurts my door approach...and it's not as much fun :-)
