So here is what happened. I have insurance with Allstate and have always paid my notes on time. 2 months ago my auto-pay screwed up. I did not changed banks or accounts or anything the auto draft simply did not take my payment. I did not realize this since I was also moving at the time so any mail correspondence was not being received promptly. So when I did realize and once I was able to I started my insurance again yesterday morning before noon. I find out today that my car is flooded from all this weather from Texas. According to the weather reports it looks like flooding started Wednesday night....but I did not start my insurance again until Thursday morning. Will I be covered? I called insurance and they said to call back Monday to file a claim if they decide it is ok. Not sure what to do. I do have GAP insurance but guessing that only applies after insurance.

Gap insurance is only good for the difference in what you would be paid for a total loss and what you still owe on the car. You stated that, "So when I did realize and once I was able to I started my insurance again yesterday morning before noon." I am not sure what you mean by, "once I was able to I started my insurance again". I am reading that as if you knew your policy was cancelled but did not have the money to pay the premium. If that's the case, I don't think you have a valid claim. I live in Virginia and watched the news on Sept 19 which showed the flooding in Texas. Most, if not all, insurance carriers would have put out a moratorium on new business with the storm pending which would mean that they would not insure any vehicle not currently on an active policy until after the storm passed. Your policy should be looked at as new business if it terminated during your move. For your sake I hope I am wrong. Best of Luck
