Changing from Final Expense to...

90% of your whole job is lead generation.

There are a number of ways.. and you'll always find someone that swears none of them work.

You can buy leads.

I can't help you with that, because every lead I've ever bought has made me feel scummy calling them.

You can cold call.. but you have to be careful about compliance and the Do Not Call list. It's also not the most efficient use of your time.

You can use Direct Mail, but mail is being really bad right now.

You can use digital marketing or Local SEO which is hands down the most efficient, but it takes a while (think years) to make really work and leads are not consistent.

You can door knock, but can't talk about Medicare Advantage.

You can use referrals, but you don't have any clients yet.

You can do seminars, but COVID and mail.

There's no fit. My suggestion.. try a few different things and be prepared to throw money at it. Find something you like and can do regularly. Also diversify your lead sources.

For example:

I have a small Direct mail that I do.
I have local SEO.
I do e-mail marketing
I started using Youtube
I have a referral system.

Hell, even consider FE to sell and build a book of business that you can sell to when they hit 65.

Personally, and a lot of people shit on it... I tell people to take their time. Don't be afraid to get a job to eat (because being desperate sucks) while you figure out how you want to do this.

That's my opinion, but I'm sure someone else can tell you otherwise.

Thanks for all the info. I am not oppossed to FE but I dont know how/where to start. Im new to all of this. Im currently a teacher trying to build a side-hustle. Obviously if things go really well I will leave teaching. But for now I am trying to find the best way to monitize my 2-15 license.

What would you sell if you were in my shoes? I do not have a preference.

That's what you should figure out before you spend a dollar in marketing.

This is a business. You need to know your market. Why are you getting into insurance?

Find and agency that has quality leads and you'll never worry about feeling like a salesman. I don't sell - I fulfill orders.

Sounds like you got the Glengarry leads.;)

If you are closing FE, you are a salesman/saleswoman. If you have a process, then it won't "feel" like you are selling. Everyone I know who sells FE - a lot of FE - has a sales process that they follow that takes you from greeting to meeting to "tahnk you very much have a great day!"

It isn't the leads. It really isn't. Give 20 leads to Agent A and that agent won't get a sit, much less a sale. Give the same 20 leads to @jdeasy or @NAF1138 or @Baseball7 or @SPUR CITY and they'll get 12 sits and at least 6 apps (likely more).

It isn't the leads.

It's literally the leads. What your talking about is experience giving an advantage.
But I can take a new agent and get them to book 20apts with 80 of my leads. I can't say that with other lead sources I've used in the past.
I've also never heard of Glengarry Leads. I use our CRM cherry-picked leads.

True that.

You could give those killers the names and phone numbers off a truck stop bathroom wall and they will come back with something. :1eek:

Not bait, factual statement. Should I be paying rent for the space I'm occupying up there?

Dude, I've gotten several texts from forum members since you landed here pegging you as a troll looking to recruit or sell leads or both. You're not the first and you won't be the last. A lot of us know one another in real life, not just forum life.

If you are here to share - then share. The best way to recuit and sell leads is to be up front about it. You want recruits and you can offer the Glenngary leads, post your offer in the offers section. But if you are here thinking you are going to pull wool over eyes you need to take it to Facebook where you have a chance of fooling some folks.

So you're in PA. So am I and a few other solid forum producers. Where in the state do you work?
