When is advertising allowed in threads vs. putting them in the offers section?

I would think that a $120 seminar belongs there, not here, otherwise we could end up where everyone who is SELLING a seminar or who has a book to advertise or who has a 'today only' sale on leads or on dialing' services to be posting in threads.

Boards without an 'offers' rule are often inundated with sales postings.

And some that do have such a rule still get 'gamed.' The seller gets a friend to start a thread on a topic related to what the seller wants to sell and after a few postings by rank and file members the seller pops in about whatever he or she is selling.

Anyway, In the past year or so I've seen others (almost always newbies) here get lambasted for not posting in 'offers' and I see other posters whose advertisements are accepted in threads. Perhaps it is a seniority thing, like the 500 and 1000 club or something similar?

It reads to me that the 'special price' of $120 is for the seminar.

I didn't see the words "free" anywhere in the post.

If you are correct (which I now assume you are) than it is obviously my mistake... but I think we both would agree that it is a rather easy one to make given how the post was written/structured.

I use Mobile CTI Power Dialer. $5 phone app. not many bells and whistles but if you just want to call through a list it works.

I corrected the post because apparently only one person couldn't figure out that the webinar was free but the regular price of the dialer is $120. But he is also not only an insurance agent but a writer and lawyer all wrapped up in one. Probably the cause of his confusion.

And it's an "easy mistake to make" if you are either an *** or looking to find fault.

I guess I'm the *** here... not the first time!

It would have been much more professional to simply say something like "Yes, I understand how the mistake could be made and I changed the post. Sorry for the confusion."
