Child Only Policies

I love the fact you can write all children on one application with MOO, big plus, and if the rates are excellent and they offer paid up policies its a home run !

Settlers does have a nice 10pay and 20pay!

Yeah, but it's still MoO. Might as well write Humana if you're going to write MoO.

You are on target with that statement, I wrote a couple MOO policies back in 03 or so and it was a pain to get them issued or get a straight answer from underwriting. :nah:

I will be writing some RYN, Settlers on children along with a couple other companies, but I might pick up MOO just to have in the bag for certain situations.

I don't know what their underwriting was like back in 03 for their children's WL plan, but I haven't experienced any major problems in 2012, other than them being a "tad bit" slow with placement and automatically declining children with asthma that are under the age of 5.

Who know's maybe they changed a little in recent years.

Other than the two factors listed above and the fact that you have to hand deliver the policies, nothing beats being able to write an app. on someone's child, grandchild or great grandchild that's in a completely different state and, might I add, without the need for their signature or other major personal information.

Also, their rates are pretty good; they even beat out RYN's in some instances.

No matter how you say it it's still a MoO product. I wouldn't give it away. Some companies don't deserve the business of the independent agent. Humana is one, MoO is another.

Do you say that, because you feel it's an inferior product for clients in general (AM Best Rating, premium rates, paying out claims etc.), or are you primarily referring to how they deal with their agents?

How they deal with agents. How they deal with their own customers.

Sometimes if a company bring the best value to the client then things can be overlooked. There is nothing MoO brings to the table that another cannot do better.

Why? I have not written either of them. What is the rap with them?

Humana is openly anti indpendent agent. They are very reason for the MIPPA rules and the cutting of agent commissions. MoO will try to go around the agent to sell the client once you have brought the client to them. Plus on their med sups they have this litle shell game going where they change the name of their own company from MoO to United World to UoO to Omaha Ins or wahtever their latest name is. That closes the book on those other plans and clients that cannot move because of health are stuck higher and higher rate increases because the ones healthy enough to move do leave for the new company, I mean new named company.

This is scary to know, unfortunately here in Fl, MOO have one of the best rates for MedSups.
