Christian Fidelity® Assurance (Oxford)

That's the issue with Christian Fidelity and SL&C...neither are in the majority of states. The RD at Oxford told me they are working on more states for Christian Fidelity, just waiting on some COAs.

They have great rates for sure. One issue I don't like about both Oxford and CF is that they don't offer any kind of graded or standard rate like most other true FE carriers. Your clients better be super healthy or they don't want you at all. The other goofy thing that I cannot understand is this...both Oxford and CF are priced so low that they almost invite you to use them as a replacement carrier. But they penalize you if more than 15% of your biz is replacements. I was using them to beat tons of other carriers...and then I get a call from the RD..."We need you do not submit anymore apps for a while". I later learned 40% of my biz was replacements...LOL. Their POS interview could also get WAY too invasive and they would even start asking questions that weren't on the application. That was frustrating. I heard recently that they intend on making some major changes to their POS company. Most carriers I work with are very growth minded and willing to make adjustments to market conditions. Oxford/CF seems to be perfectly content right where they're at. Great rates are nice, but there's definitely a tradeoff.

They just launched it in part today. Haven't used it yet but from talking to the regional it is basically a call in with the basic info on client (name, address, DOB, SSN) then they reply approved or declined. If that is approved and all No on the app then you are done. Apparently in a couple weeks it will be online too so no call in at all. Should be a nice change.

Glad to hear that. Oxford actually does fit one more VERY small niche. Most of the really low-cost carriers like SLAC, and Lifeshield (and some others) ask specifically if the client is currently receiving disability comp. That question often excludes a lot of our clients. Oxford is one of a few low-rate carriers that doesn't ask about disability. BUT, I would only use them in a replacement situation...BUT REMEMBER...they don't like replacements. Haha. Like I said...VERRRRY small niche.

I heard they started becoming a PITA to work with because they were letting the lawyers run the company.

I don't blame them, I wouldn't want all replacement business either. But they are solving the problem the wrong way. The solution is to be more attractive to new business, not cut off replacement business.

Agreed! I have no idea what goes on behind the doors of those carriers board meetings and how they determine their overall strategies. The most attractive companies for me (that I push a lot) are the ones who have multiple products, reasonable underwriting, decent pricing, and good comp.
