FEXquotes has added several companies. Christian Fidelity is almost always among the lowest rates. Decided to check them out. They are a sister company with Oxford but are not even close tooxford in comissions.. the regional guy said the first year comission was 55%. Captives pay more than that!

They took the original Oxford rates and put them with Christian Fidelity but had to reduce the commissions so pricing worked. They rolled it out a couple years ago as an alternative sale product for people that were focused on rate but already had a low rate product. Ex. 70 F Non smoker wants 10k but has Lafeyette at $50 per month. Not many lower and if lower, not by much, this is when you would roll out the $44 per month and close the deal. Guess the mentality is, walking away with 55% is better than walking away with 0. I have sold a couple policies with them, usually just like the example but it definitely is not my lead in product.

That's exactly what it is designed to do. Half a loaf is better than none. I would take that every time.

I agree with the 55% of something.

However, I would guess service is the same as Oxford. I have a number of cases with them and service, especially claims is not the best in my opinion.

It's interesting that Oxford now offers the choice...great rates and crappy commissions (and I assume low renewals) or Good rates with high commission and low renewals.

What if every company had such a choice?

Lafayette seems to be the happy medium. Great rates, decent 1st year and good renewals.

But how would we agents react if every one of our companies offered the FE products at 25% reduced premiums ay 50% of the commission?

I think the smart play if you're looking for a low cost leader would be Lafayette Life. 100% commission with renewals, A+ rating, super low rates makes Lafayette Life the total package for price leaders.

What are the renewals and how is their service? Lee

I believe...
100% 1st year
8.4% 2nd year
7% years 3-10

As far as service so far so good... I have only written a handful of apps, but I have no complaints. As with any carrier, first task is learning their expectations and the manner in which they do business. Then being able to evolve to use their product to your advantage in the field.
