Commercial Lines Rep Question

are you salary+ commission?. door knock, door knock, door knock.

Yes I am salary + comm.

I do agree building relationships is key and hitting the pavement is one way to do that.

But I am in the NJ/NY area. Most business owners don't seem to have the time to sit there and talk with with me.

I would familiarize yourself with your state's workers comp bureau website as well as the department of labor website. In PA, where I live and work, a quick search on both of these sites allows me to find virtually any business, their workers comp x-date, their experience mod, and what carrier they're with for comp. I would imagine that most states have similar resources online.

It's not a substitute for hitting the pavement and talking to people, but it is a tremendous time-saver and powerful pre-screening tool.

In my state, worker's compensation is handled through the state government, but this makes me wonder - do the companies doing business across state lines list their x-dates due to worker's comp info on foreign state's websites?

Hmmm...

So the state handles ALL Workers Comp, I call BS

Well, I am still pretty new to this but it's my understanding that in Ohio if you have under 500 employees you have to purchase WC through the state. If you over 500 employees and meet other specific requirements, you can self insure. If anyone else knows this to be different, let me know.

The key is uncovering "pain" from the prospect

Also how they actually decide on the insurance -

Try to wedge yourself in.

Pm or send me an email if you have specific telemarketing questions -

An inexpensive way to keep track of your data is to use ACT it will alow you to bring up the prospect by renewal information and it has space for perssonal notes

Good Luck!
