Me love it.
Frick'n genius.
Barry and buds never saw that that one come'n.
MLR my culo.
Anybody 19+; don't rate, that'll mess with MLR, just slap an additional deductible on that pre ex.
Beautiful.

Just marveling at the way in which ins. companies are maneuvering around MLR.
They can't rider or decline anyone under 19, so they get rated. Then, to keep the premium down and to stay MLR compliant, instead of rating someone 19 or over, they add a "condition specific deductible."

I've always been a huge CSD fan and think it's something the other carriers should have picked up on. Cover the carrier's liability without a rider without BK'ing a client.....possibly. Some CSDs I wrote were 15K. That said, I'll take the 15K deductible over a rider or decline.

And this won't be a popular statement but.....even if I BK on the 15K CSD...ok. But the procedure's done. With a rider the provider calls for authorization and gets "not covered" = no procedure in the first place - unless a medical emergency - then it's still not repriced.

Yep. Had a CSD on dad and a rate on daughter for allergies.
They liked it better than paying extra and no exclusion sits well with them.
"I pay for my own meds now anyway ..."

When Aetna's rates in MD doubled, and GR riders a splinter, Assurant's CSD saved me countless cases where my clients were not going to accept a rider...regardless of the math.

There's something emotional about a rider; "So...my daughter's asthma isn't covered?" Yes...but Sue, if you multiple X into Y and carry the 1 you'll see how she's better off taking the rid...Sue? Sue?"

MLR my culo...Ins D I'm still laughing my a$$ off on that one. Just slap an additional ded. on that preex, that is funny Shiat
