CRM Software

I installed vTiger a few weeks ago to play with it and tried very hard to keep all users separate... so that they could not see other users names or their data... and just could not figure it out. No matter what I did, Joe could see Bob and Sue in the "assign to" drop-down and I could not get rid of the drop-down as the system would not let me delete it form the layout... saying it was required.

I'm not quite sure how you configured vTiger to keep everyone separate but I'm glad you found a solution.

That's exactly the problem I was having with SugarCRM, vTiger only took about a half hour to set exactly the way I wanted it to (which is the way you were mentioning). First I had to define the roles (sales managers can see everything, agents can only see their own, etc) then create the users and assign them the roles. It had an odd tick to it, but I could never get Sugar to hide everything from everyone else.

Are you using this for more than you personal clients, meaning other agents?

Using the out-of-the-box install of vTiger I created a couple of "sales man" and in the Leads module the first guy could see the name of the second guy in the Assign To drop down menu when creating a new lead. True, each could only see their own leads. but I could not figure how to get rid of the "Assign To" drop-down or just have one name in it.

No, I was just testing it out for a friend who was looking for a CRM that would keep each of his users totally separate from all others... such that they would not even know the names of the others. I've not figured out how you keep all the names of those with the same role out of the Assign To list. I really wanted to disable that drop-down list but for some reason in vTiger you can't do it... that I know of.

It's completely doable. Send me an email and I'll send you directions.

For web based AgencyIQ is one of the cheapest and most powerful, I looked at leads360, salesforce, several others.. they're 30 bucks a month, compared to like a minimum of 65 to do the same things with anyone else.

Either that or free vTiger and SugarCRM. You can get it hosted for less than $40/year. Even if you're not too tech savvy you can find someone to set it up for $100 easy (that would include me). If anyone wants to try it I can show you a demo.
