I think in 10 years everting will be different for agents.
Most people will buy from the web for individual health and even small group. I have been online for almost 9 years and I have seen a huge increase.
Carrier contracts are going to get harder and harder to keep.
The agent that writes a few policies a year with a carrier will not be able to go direct.
Commission will go down. As more and more people apply online we will see less commissions. It would not surprise me if carriers really make a push to go direct with individual sales.
In 10 years there will be less carriers on the health side. If regional carriers are unable to build their own networks that will not be able to compete. This will result in less competition among the carriers.
With B.O. and the next few years he could really regulate the health industry to where 2-10 life will have very low commissions.
I feel there are going to be a lot less agents in the health industry in the next 10 years.
With economy the way it is I don't know if I would recommend anyone getting into the health insurance business right now. Now if you are connected with a lot of business owners then that is another story.
