Looking back on 2009, what percent of your business came from your website?

Did your website really produce leads for you and how much of your business last year came from your website?

We do a lot of talk about SEO, Google and our websites. I just want to see how many people are making good money from their websites or if your website is not worth the money you pay for it.

I make money every week from my site. That & referrals keep me going.

How much did it cost you to make your website? How much does it cost monthly to host now? How much time do you spend on your website a month updating it?

Also how long did you have your website, before it started to really pay off for you?

What do you think you did right, that others are doing wrong with their websites?

Total cost including SEO around $1500. Annual fee for hosting less than $100. Probably invest 10 hours a week updating it and setting up links. The website started making money within 2 months but did not become a relatively steady source until around 6 months.

What I do "right" is content.

What others do "wrong" is lack of content.

I drive as many prospects as I can to my web site. I tell them, you can apply at my web site, or, we can do a paper app. I let prospects know that applying through my web site is the fast and quickest way to approval. Paper apps take more time.
Right now, maybe 30% of my business is through my web site.

What do you do about signatures on applications?

Most of the major carriers offer it on most/all of their products.

I would estimate that 90% of the policies I write involve electronic signature. 9% are via fax and 1% via mail.

(Fax is popular because no premium payment is required with a few carriers).
