Direct Mail Question

Does anyone have any experience with using a direct mail "flyer" for final expense? Just to clarify, this would be a two sided, letter size, full color ad........with no return envelope or card so a customer would have to call you if they have an interest.

The reason I ask is I have had good success with these in another business (retail) I am involved in and they can be targeted to households using criteria such as age, household income, etc. that I specify.

The cost is right at $40.00 per 1,000 including set up and art work but you have to commit to a 50K piece order which is fine .........if they work. You can break up the drops so you do not have to drop them (or pay for them) all at once. You only pay for the amount you drop.

This may sound like an offer with all the details but it is not. I am looking for feedback from anyone that has tried this type of approach and what success they may have had if any.

That sounds fantastically expensive and like a pretty high minimum.

Anything like this is going to work different by area and time.

Thanks for the reply Josh. Not sure I understand the expensive part though. Did you mean inexpensive? I can hit 10,000 homes for $400.00 vs 1000 using a return mail card

I can also spread out the drops to make it more manageable in time and money.

How do they get delivered?

The pricing is for printing and not for delivery/mail. factor in that and the price is closer to mailers. I would use Postcards from Gotprint.net for a lower postage rate. 2,500 delivered and printed runs close to $1,000. Gotprint is a less expensive than say Postcardmania.com

I "found" www.cactusmailing.com and couldn't be more pleased. They do charge for design and you have to supply your own list, but the quality is more than terrific and the design work is the best I've seen.

A 5K 5.5 x 8 two side color postcard including the cost to address is under $700. You supply the list (Josh is a great source) and postage (bulk rate is fine for this).

Maybe there are cheaper but you do get what you pay for.

The $700 does not include postage and mail setup costs. The printing at gotprint.net is half the price here and the quality is superior to any product we have seen. You are right you do get what you pay for....for far less.

You need to shop and understand what you are investing your hard earned money into. Most companies like Cactus actually use GotPrint.net for their printing and mark it up. Not say they do, but some of the best known names on the web for printing subcontract to companies like gotprint.
