I like the site but are all the pictures and colors distracting to visitors? JohnConner.com

I was trying for a site other than the typical "Quick Quote Here" style site.

I also like the blog format, so if I change I will probably go with another wordpress theme.

What do you guys think?

I think it is an appealing site, considering it is in blog format. It's always nice to have a "Get Quote Now" button prominently displayed somewhere (or something like that).

Not a big thing (I don't think) but you have to scroll down to see all of the topics. It would be nice if they were listed so you could see them when you first come to the site.

Also...you might want to consider buying a nice domain for $7. No doubt, you could find one for your state.

The only concern I would have is that the Arthemia theme is extremely popular (I even had it until recently) and I have seen other agents on this board using it. Since this is your business and the site makes you money, I would strongly advise buying the exclusive rights to a theme or having someone design one for you. It can still be WYSIWYG blog style, but just make it more branded to you.

Thanks for the input, I think I'll keep my eyes peeled for a site or theme that grabs me. Until then I'll keep adding to this one.

Thanks again ... John

Wordpress is easy to work with...even better if it is integrated with your website. As I have mentioned, I often will see an article I write on Wordpress in the top Google position 30 minutes later (depending on how specific the topic is).

I think that your conversions will go up when the body of your website and your blog have a similar appearance and feel. If you are getting significant traffic on your blog, you should seriously consider having a blog template customized for you.

I'm currently creating and testing how certain design elements impact the conversions I get on my forms.

My health insurance forms are designed to move a 65 year old from page one of my health form to page 2 of my medigap form. During the testing I noticed that my conversions went down when the design elements in the first form didn't match the design elements in the second form.

I'm not talking about big things like different color schemes, but smaller things like the color of the submit button.

If a small design element mismatch like a button color can affect conversions, think how much you lose when your blog has a completely different look and feel when compared with the rest of your site.

I think if you are moving from like to like (or a form to a form) the design elements should be identical. However, a blog post should look like a blog and a home page should look like a home page. They should be different, but share enough design elements that they look like they belong together.

I was able to create my own blog theme for one of my sites see post -> health insurance for the unemployed using the same color scheme as the body of the site.

By the way in order to customize a WordPress blog, you or the person you hire will have to have a some understanding of not only HTML but also CSS and PHP.
