Do We Have a Right?

But that was originally the job of the states. The Federal Government was never meant have the power it has usurped. The Constitution was written the way it was to give Washington very limited powers. Why not just call us a America instead of the United States of America? The Confederate States saw this government coming, I only wish they would have succeeded. No I'm not for slavery and if anyone thinks Lincoln started the Civil War over slavery you need to read a history book.

I believe the Constitution was written to be read and interpreted literally. Every word was carefully selected to limit the power of the federal government.

The best government is the government closest to the people. I know most of my state government representatives. I like to be able to see them in town buying groceries and underwear.

I would agree, the Federal Government has turned into a monstrosity that was never intended by our founding fathers.

While there is much more of a need these days for a centralized government than there was in the 1700s; that need is fairly limited.

And as to the civil war; the winners are always the ones who write the history books!

I also believe that each state should decided issues with health care.

Does anything think that we could create a document today that would properly address all situations in the year 2610?

If you think the framers could possibly fathom nuclear weapons or the internet just imagine what society will be like 600 years from now.

Maybe all diseases are gone and people live to be 150. I wonder how that would effect the economy. Could laws be created today to deal with that? Not a chance in hell.

2610 is a bit too far out, but we do have a great idea about 2505 :D

My question when people assume that health insurance is a Right is: What year did it become a Right? Not too long ago in our history there was no such thing as health insurance (actually started around the time of the civil war).

Now, that's not to say that care should not be available or within reach of all. My only point is that some people should get off their high moral platform acting like it's a God given right...it's not. It's a problem that we need to solve.
