so i got a client who needs doctor e&o, he gets a quote from a someone who insured all their doctor friends.

the quote came back as a bop w/ professional liability endorsements. (written as home office at home)

i would have just gotten a standalone policy.

he doesnt have a home office but picks up part time for other clinics when they need him. He travels to them and work there not at home. The address used for the bop is the apartment he lives in.

So is there anything potentially wrong with this? Not sure if the e&o is premises only or travels with client.

But the bop is like 500 dollars and standalone e&o is 2000

Just curious, does the clinics he goes to have e&o coverage for him? So what happens if someone wants to sue; I am assuming they will sue both him and the clinic? Can he have him added to the clinic's professional liabilities and use the bop if he decides to work from home? I think your doctor friend should ask the person who wrote the bop if it the professional liability covers him if he were to work outside of his home. If the agent said yes, have it in writing so he can go after the agent's e & o if the carrier denies it later.

i thought the bop plus professional liability would be on premises only since its 500 dollars.

he is a new graduate. he doesnt just work for 1 clinic. he will bounce from 3-4 clinics filling in for the regular staff when needed. they will not provide him e&o and he has to get e&o to even begin working for them.

so i dont know why they wrote him as a bop, but apparently it was written this way for the last 4-5 years for the new graduates. they all go to him, he has a "in" with one of the teachers who will refer the new graduates, then kind of a chain effect.

goto "x" everyone uses him in our field.

Get the name of the carrier the other guy use and call them if a bop with professional liability covers your doctor friend when he goes to clinics. That can be your "in" if the other guy has been writing it wrong.

e&o is the malpractice, i'm just using it interchangability, probably the smartest thing to do lol.

but i'm referring to professional liability.

I'm really trying hard to figure out if they have been writing this wrong, if so, i can get like 200+ accounts.

So none of the underwriters at Zurich can answer the question for you? That is bad. Or are you not appointed with Zurich and they don't want to give out the info? Did you try to pretend to be one of their agents? If worse comes to worse, have your friend flat out ask the other agent if it covers him when he goes to clinics to practice.

I'm not appointed with them so they wont talk to me, i tried getting a quote as i am a insured, they want me to talk to the agent. I brought it up nicely with the agent and he wont give me any information.

Over here in NYC, theres no direct appointment with them, the one of their agent route gets me redirected to the wholesaler, who should be answering my question lol. I ask wholesaler, and they dont know.

No one knows. I told him to just get an email on confirmation of coverage while working for others.

YES, there is a problem with this! It's a good thing that the doctor has both E&O and a BOP, but there's no reason that the BOP should be written to cover his home. The BOP should cover the GL for the properties he's practicing on. It's hard to tell without seeing the actual policy, but if his home is the address named on the BOP it's a BIG problem! He needs to have coverage everywhere he practices!! SO important!
