Does having a salvage title on the car make DMV registration cheaper?

Someone crashed into me and I got my car repaired, but the damages were at the 80% car value mark so it turned my car into a salvage vehicle. I read that the dmv registration fee for that is $45. My registration before this accident was $300 per year. Does that mean my annual DMV registration just got cheaper?

Was the "registration" actually registration plus taxes? Was it the taxes that actually went down since now the car is valued less?

Check with your state. It could be because the vehicle has no real 'value'. I probably can't be insured with full coverage since it has been totaled and can now only carry liability to protect the person you hit. You may not be able to sell it but can continue to drive it until it dies. Some states only allow a salvage vehicle to be on the road for a set period of time and some insurers will only allow the vehicle to be insured for a set period of renewals
