Does the V.A. Report to the M.I.B.

It seems that the VA is selective about what they report to outside agencies including the M.I.B. Am I right, or do they report just like everyone else. I have had Veterans tell me all records are private. DOes anyone know what their protocol is?

I've been told the same thing because the VA is a closed system. It's not like buying services in an open market where insurance companies and providers are involved.

Perhaps someone will come along and enlighten us more.

I've posed this question before to the Forum and a guru (?) said the MIB has VA medical information. I've heard both answers to be honest and I'm not closer to finding the real answer. I have ordered my MIB and it didn't have anything about my military injuries and only listed a couple of things from since I've been a civilian over the past 10 years.

Actually, my failing memory is now telling me that an Underwriter told me not long ago that VA medical records are part of the MIB reports.

The companies I deal with have always told me that they do not get VA records for the underwriting process. Medical or Rx.

After death in the contestable period they can, and do, get those records.

Makes me wonder how they can get them when they are contesting the claim but not when underwriting (other than the fact that there is more hoops to jump through).....???
I wish that UW guy who used to post here would surface again.

There are release form that have to be signed and sent to the company after a death claim.

If they required that upfront the agents would just place those people elsewhere.

Well they are supposed to answer those app questions honestly and the company could rescind if death occurs within two years or they uncover some damning evidence. Kinda like a graded policy.;
