I didn't spot anything in that article at Forbes that suggests removal of freebies or elimination of agents, or that the benefits the plans would provide would be "basic."
The one thing they write that relates to the extra benefits in MAPD is actually that "Medicare Advantage also has much better benefits..."
My first reaction was "Oh good, a doctor - he probably hates Medicare Advantage." But was disappointed to read his perspective. The co-author of the article was a former CEO of Kaiser Permanente, the large managed care outfit.
Where they write "By using this approach we could also significantly reduce administrative costs as a country. The complex array of payers in our hodgepodge payment nonsystem that has created a massive administrative burden would shrink significantly", that's weird, because Original Medicare has one payer, and doesn't it actually have the lowest administrative costs? And doesn't it actually spend less $ per enrollee than Medicare Advantage, with really essentially the same health outcomes?
Maybe you're making the not unreasonable assumption that universal coverage - through any structure, public or private - is so expensive that they would have to cut back on extras.

I would put money on both of them going away. Trump has already said how stupid it is that people need to wait 48 hours to simply speak to an agent. My FMO is lobbying hard to make call recording go away, and I hope everyone else's is too. We pay FMO's a lot of money...the least they can do is represent us and make our agent lives easier. All I have to say is "BYE BYE CHIQUITA!!! Don't let the door hit you in the @SS!"

You're not wrong, but it's still a technicality "gotcha!" that they do have to use against us, potentially. It all just needs to go away. It's absolutely pointless and useless. Why give them any sort of upper hand or satisfaction at all? They only instituted it because they hate agents, anyway. To quote a line from my favorite movie, "Casino".......

Permission to contact is the worst IMO. The scope doesn’t bother me as I have a CRM that automatically sends out the scope to text and email with an explanation of why it’s being sent.

Also, the Trump administration is transparently (very) pro Medicare Advantage. There is absolutely nothing to suggest he’ll ruin the program. He wants to expand it. So does the Republican Party in general.
