Exactly.I consider myself very proficient with the computer. In most cases involving insurance I don’t fully understand I am always on the phone talking with an agent. The younger generation is even dumber and have to be spoon fed everything. They scroll the computer but don’t use it to actually research or gain knowledge. Our jobs will be fine. People are getting dumber not smarter.
The vast majority of Americans could do their taxes themselves too. IRS even has a free service they can use. People still pay hundreds of dollars to have someone else do it for them. They can also go online and purchase almost all other common types of insurance themselves. Auto, life, ACA.
There have been several attempts to eliminate the agent. None have been remarkably successful. Remember Esurance? Lemonade?
Insurance is complex to most laypersons, and the vast number of options is intimidating. Most will always prefer the guidance of a knowledgeable professional.
The only real threat to our careers is singlepayer.
