Economist Re: Self-driving Cars

Look, no claims! | The Economist I know this was discussed awhile back, but found the article interesting. Somehow i dont picture it being as bad as a 60% premium cut.

2040 I'll be 53 and hopefully halfway out the door..I still feel like we are much further away than that. I don't believe we'll ever live in a world where the operator won't have an option to take control thus creating a liability exposure. All these cars will need physical damage coverage as well.

Yes auto premiums will shrink but carriers and agents will adapt. Enhancements on homeowner policies will help round accounts and bring in new package business, focusing on other lines of insurance i.e. commercial, life, etc. will keep premium in the agency, and old timer agents leaving the market with I would assume very little youngsters entering leaves a lot of opportunity to spread the wealth for those still around.

Don't get me wrong I'm still building my bunker in my back yard and working on plans for other business opportunities however I'm still very optimistic for our industry.
