BCBS of IL took 93% of all enrollees for 2014 Open Enrollment. Humana, Aetna, Land of Lincoln, Coventry fought over the crumbs.

Assurant's premiums better be lower than the colored company, or they're DOA. Same for UHC, who announced entry to Illinois.

Interesting that they didn't file in New York, their home state. Maybe Assurant is already on the NY Exchange.

There was ZERO participation in the exchange for the 2K14 season.

Also where are you getting your data on the home state? The data I have is that the Headquarters is located in Fl.

oops, I did not refine the search well enough. Assurant world headquarters is located in New York City.
Assurant Health is HQ in Wisconsin but they are not requesting registration on the Wisconsin exchange either.

November 10, 2014

This is Assurant's first foray into the Illinois (hc.gov) Exchange.

2015 Premium / Bronze $6,000 100% / Chicago / 50 Year Old

ASSURANT = $564
BLUE CROSS = $240

What was Assurant thinking when they set the 2015 premiums? They're new to the state marketplace, but the 2014 premiums were available to Assurant for reference. Why even enter a race when you know you're not going to earn enough income to offset the costs?

Is Assurant non-competitive in most other states as well?
