I've written about 8 health insurance policies in the last 3 weeks, and I'm finding that most all of them are being denied over small issues!!!!! So their only option is to get into a GI plan, which is outrageously expensive!

Is everyone else finding this as well?!!

Are you talking about Bx or someone else, or a combo?

The company that I normally write with, which has the best rates in our are is Highmark BCBS...

Their rates are the cheapest, but their underwriting guidelines are so much stricter...

I'm up in Western/Central PA

If you can write Aetna in your state give them a try. They have a online pre-screen form so you can find out pretty fast what your chances are, and they seem to have a little more lenient underwriting, but its a little pricier here in California.

That's almost always the case. Low rates/strict underwriting.....higher rates/more lenient underwriting.

Your best bet is to make a list of companies in both categories and start writing down which ones work best for common problems. Takes time, but after a while, you'll get a pretty good feeling for what will pass and what won't. Then you won't get blindsided.

Seems like I've heard that from agents in VA also. Maybe their claims are hitting them. Happened in GA a few years back, they had cheap rates, easy underwriting. After a couple of years of that the increases started rolling in and the underwriting tightened up. Maybe that is what is happening. Can't say for sure but if you are also seeing increases on existing biz that could be what is going on.

Its a bummer getting a string of denials. Sometimes it just happens that way, for no particular reason! On the other side, we once had a full month with one of our carriers where there was no denials at all, and we gave em a lot of business that month. 100% acceptance! Like I said though, it was once, in about 13 years.
