With tons of folks wanting to exit MA some are going to have health problems and/or fall outside the mandatory GI provisions.

Let's list what we "know" about GI conversions by company.

Of course let's stick to what companies do that is "extra" in nature. We all should know what is the basic requirements.

Mutual of Omaha: still must comply with all the regular CMS provisions, but extended the window to 24 months.

I'm assuming you are wanting to talk about people currently on MA's that wish to voluntarily leave and go back to a Med Supp?

If no Fed or State guarantee's apply, in Ca, with AARP, "if they can fog a mirror", they qualify. Only someone with end stage would be declined.

Is MOO taking people wanting to get out of MA and was at a different company again like they did last year?

example. 66 yr old left Country co. and went to a MA. less than 12 mo. later she wants out of her MA. Can we take her to MOO for a GI conversion?

I know last year we could. I did not get a memo on that yet.
Thanks

In this case she is guarantee issue with any med supp company. The real question is: Are there any companies that are taking MA clients that are outside of the 1st year guarantee window as guarantee issues?

She would not have a GI with any company, only to the company she left.

I believe Mr. Wallleye is somewhat correct in his line of questioning. MOO will take the applicant back into a supp even though they did not leave a MOO supp and they have extended that to people who have been on MA for up to two years.

The term GI is probably okay but not to be confused with GI under state laws. It is just MOO's policy. You are correct that under true fed or state GI., the applicant only has GI back to their original carrier.

I could be wrong, if so we will kick it around and arrive at the right answer.

He said "any". That's not correct. Some companies will make an exception, but, the law is that they can go back to the original company if it's still offered in that State.

Ok... I assumed we knew the basics.

If you drop a supp to go MA within 12 months you can get "that" exact plan back at current premiums if it is still sold.. if not any plan is GI.

If you went MA when first eligible you have 12 months to test drive the MA and if you want to exit you can and have a GI right to any supp.

Now the question and aim of this thread was: ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMPANIES OTHER THAN MOO'S 24 MONTH RULE THAT ARE DOING "EXTRA" FOR THOSE EXITING MAs.

Because it was his first time on a MA and it is within the first 24 months
this would be GI. Thanks.

Not a question on this case, but a easy general practices question. If a person has been on Medicare A/B since 2001 and also covered by "other"
insurance that acted secondary to Medicare, then joined a Medicare Advantage 3/09 leaving his "other" insurance... is he gaurantee issue with Mutual
of Omaha for a medicare supplement?
