This was a first Family of 4 makes 36K all on the same plan. Usually they put the kids on allkids. I was surprised they didn't but glad.

Yesterday I had a family of 4, $39,000 - Both Kids were Assigned to Medicaid.

Today, Family of 4, $34,000 - All four get private insurance. $0 deductible. $598 a month subsidy.

No rhyme or reason to this HC.gov/Illinois Medicaid pattern that I can find, Sam. Count yourself fortunate with THIS family, because the next one, who knows?

I did one single mom with 1 kid income $16000 both get on private insurance $0 deductible for about $30/month under bcbstx hmo

Out of curiosity:

My exchange explicitly told me that the only reason kids are put into chip is that the overall premium is lower on a "couple+CHIP" compared to a "family".
(Accurate or completely wrong, it's the rep's words)

Are these cases the ones that fall through the cracks, where a family costs less than a couple+chip (after subsidy, of course)?

There is no consistency in the results you get. Answer the questions five times with the same info and chances are you'll get at least two different results out of that five tries.
