FE Agent going independent. I need some advice

Yes I've heard that about RGI, but will definitely ask IMOs I am considering....thx

I am as earned, so debt will never be an issue.

Very smart move! If I could do this all over again I would never have taken an advance from an insurance company and I would be as-earned. Right now I have one carrier as-earned and I'm going to change Family Benefit to as-earned at the end of September.

I'm requesting to be paid as-earned on Med supp business as well.

It is SO the way to go! I used to get SO stressed when service notices would hit my inbox ....it took me a little while to get there, but I will never go back! It's great when u COMPLETELY control your expenses, with no ugly surprises. Didnt know MEd supp advanced....interested in cross selling that at some point.....how do u like it?

I used to be alright, but lately Trans has gotten a bit more "Trans-like" ... but I still use them quite a bit.

Right. But are you scattering contracts amongst several uplines or are you leaving a captive situation and going to one IMO? There are, imo, degrees of "independence."
Yes...Fexcontracting is "semi-captive".

I would definitely agree with that IF you are on our training and leads. We want you to have all your FE contracts with us in that case. So that is semi-captive.

If you only want contracts then not captive at all.

And most agencies that have any quality training and/or set cost direct mail leads are much more than semi captive than we are because they don't want you to put Medicare, Annuities, Term, etc outside of them either. We only require the FE business.

So I would say we are one of the LEAST captive IMOs that has training and set cost direct mail for FE agents in the industry.

But you won't find many of the really captive ones admitting to the C-word.
