FE Company Trips

COPD meds (inhaler) - immediate?

I think so if the COPD was diagnosed more than 2 years ago. That's one for underwriting, though. I haven't run across that one.

I suppose it would depend on the inhaler, but that is one I would talk to the company about before submitting.

Sounds like they are similar to Monumental, without the amendments. Would that be accurate?

Pretty much. I usually find them to be better priced than Mon. They can come up with amendments, too. Not anything like Monumental, but I just had one where I filled out the beneficiary and checked the primary box. I filled out the contingent beneficiary, but forgot to check the contingent box. That was an amendment. I couldn't get them to just check the box for me.

I much prefer working with Americo over Monumental, but there are plenty of other agents that would say the opposite.

JD -- what's the news with EFES and their screwy arrangement with Americo? See that changing any time soon?

I know I'd prefer renewals, too.

I was trying to negotiate my own deal where I didn't get as much 1st year commission, but got higher renewals. They ended up not letting me do that. It was for everyone or no one and I was outvoted.

Not that JD doesnt ALREADY know this, but others may not realize it...u DO get renewals on your wholesale biz, just not retail! I just submitted a retail app last nite to them (cause it was too late for a PHI & she was a smoker)...so Ill take my 100% & no renewals for now! As a newbie, who doesnt earn renewals yet & is more cash strapped...I like the more commish....once I get a lil more seasoned, Im sure I'll agree with JD too!

They issue pretty quickly. 2 to 3 days on average. if it's not issued that fast there is an issue with the app as I learned by doing. If it sits on Agent Cafe for more than 2 days it will most likely not be issued immediate coverage.

They pay daily. You would need to get new pricing info from them. They didn't change the rates on Ultra II and III. Only on I. They have new apps in most state now as well. Pretty much the same old app, but they did loosen underwriting to where maintenence drugs are not considered "treatment" and also MS can get immediate coverage and also a pacemaker or defibulator.

I still don't like that they do an Rx check, but don't have agents put the meds on the app or give us a prescription indicator list.

I do like to use them, though. There is a screwy deal with EFES on renewals and that keeps me from using them more.

I dont have enough exp using them, but cant u just print their drug list from their field manual & then just make sure none of the clients drugs are on that list??

They don't have a drug list for agents to use. That is the problem. It's not so much of a problem for me as I always about meds anyway because I'm trying to decide which company to recommend.

It would still be nice to know what they will tolerate or not.

JD, I printed out Americo's drug list from pg 38 of their Agent Field Guide...that has all the drugs that's uninsurable. I figured as long as it's not 1 of those, Im good....maybe Im wrong, but what else would it be for?

That list is not all inclusive. They are kind of funny about how they apply the RX history. Can't get definitive answers from them.
