FE Doorknocking Survey

Hello Everyone,
Gotta supplement some DM that I have started to do, the weather is nice, I put this together, its a flow chart for a survey.

I know Newby and JMatos got good results door knocking with a survey so I decided to do my own and submit it to the forums to see what kind of feedback I could get.

I don't want to debate the merits of doorknocking. If thats not for you, find another thread.

Thanks~!

I have 1100 pieces of data from the mailing that I will go out and doorknock starting at 10-11am. Grouped into 4 groups.
Ages: Time:
70-65: 10am-12pm
64-60: 12pm- 2pm
59-55: 2pm-4pm
54-50: 4pm-6pm

The reason for varying the times is I experienced younger people (50-55) still working (from campaigning), so I think it would be better to door knock them later in the day.
20-50 addresses per day (still thinking of how many per day). Will take me a month to two months.

Cool...u havent got responses back from the fliers who created yet right?? Thats what I wanna kow!!

do you feel you might need to add to what you already have?

This is the only thing I might consider changing. I think I would ask, "wouldn't you agree that it is a good idea to review what you have to make sure everything is up to date and in order?"
You are asking them to add coverage without them having any basis of need. f you can get the review then you can create the need.

Curious, what were you campaigning for... or against?

What is your answer when they immediately ask you, what or who is the survey for...?

Now keep in mind I haven't been out taking surveys for life ins and not going to either, so the following is merely some ideas off the top of my head... take it or leave it...

It seems that your survey questions are all geared to one point, burial insurance. I realize that this is what you want to know, but might you be better off having a couple of throw away questions in the beginning and injected a few of your target questions here and there, just to soften the thing up some (for camoflage). You might find that you get more folks to answer the questions if you can get them talking a bit in the beginning, answering a few easy (throw away) questions. If not, you might as well walk up to the door, policy in hand... and ask, "Do you want one of these...?"

Your current outline, as I understand it:
Question # 1, How long have you live in X county....? Me: (Who wants to know...?)
Question #2, Do you folks have a burial ins plan...? Many folks: (game over, this is about ins and I'm not playin this game).

As opposed to maybe using weighted questions: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most and 1 being not at all, how well do you feel that you have taken care of blah, blah...? and blah, blah...? Less threatening than wheather they have a burial plan.

Also, what about offering them something, a Kroger coupon, an ink pen, or belly button lint, or _____ for taking the survey.? Just a thought to engage them, let them know that if they complete the survey they will receive coupons worth $ x amount. You could probably collect a half dozen coupons from local businesses (restaurants, oil changes, Dentist or Chiropractor, Pizza place, etc) to award them when you are completed, and you could interject questions in your survey of, Have you ever eaten a Joe's Restaurant on 5th...? Seen Dr so-in-so, ordered a pizza from Tom's in the past yr...? (coupon for Joe's, et al, is part of their awarded coupons after completing the survey). Just thinking of potential ways to engage folks a little more and get them to play ball with you for 5 mins.

OK, I'm done now.

Went out 1-3pm, didn't use the survey, but I just went up and down the street. Did 48 houses exactly and got 3 leads. Two of the leads wanted home/auto insurance, and two of the leads wanted life (one lead wanted both home and a life).
Here were my Numbers
Leads- 3
Not home- 26
Said No- 17
Said Not Now- 2 (I got their info to follow up)

So my expectations were that half wouldn't be home before 5pm. 50 houses per two hours.

I printed out this and showed it to everyone who told me they already have insurance. It helped me get one lead and one not now but call back later.
